Dreamwork & Psychotherapy Services

Dream Consultation

I provide one-time and package consultations of dream analysis, working from a theoretical foundation of Jungian and archetypal psychology, involving methods of association, amplification, embodiment (influenced by dreamwork strategies developed by Robert Bosnak), and expression through artistic mediums. This is not therapy, nor should it substitute for therapy. Consultations include receiving an introduction to dream analysis and education that will enable the dreamer to begin working with their dreams on their own. This can include working with one dream, working with a series of dreams, working with recurrent dream patterns, or working with nightmares.

Consultation services include email options. We will explore dreamwork basics and education, how to boost dream recall, interpretation (possible dream meanings, relevance to your life, suggestions toward healing, integration, and new ways of being based on the dream), embodiment exercises, ideas for creative expression of your dream, and insights to build understanding of your unconscious and your inner world. I also work with writers and other creatives, drawing on my background as both an author and psychologist, on how to utilize dreams in the creative process and novel writing process.

“In each of us is another whom we do not know. He speaks to us in dreams and tells us how differently he sees us from the way we see ourselves.” –C.G. Jung

Adult Psychotherapy

I provide psychotherapy for adults across the lifespan and utilize a culturally responsive, relational, and Jungian treatment approach. This orientation holds to the knowledge that we are deeply influenced by hidden and unconscious aspects of ourselves, and that healing involves the integration of all parts of the self on the path to individuation, or reaching your fullest potential. Often the very ways we learn to cope with fear, sadness, or wounding in our relationships may inadvertently move us further from the closeness and connection we seek. In this method of psychotherapy, healing is facilitated by bringing awareness–or consciousness– to these unknown parts of your inner world and experience, as well as to your maladaptive relationship patterns. We may explore the nature and patterns of your dreamlife, psychological complexes, relationship patterns, family of origin dynamics and/or dysfunction, personal self-concepts, trauma histories, spiritual sensibilities, identity issues, and personal calling.

The therapeutic services I offer in my practice are best suited for persons who would consider themselves relatively high-functioning. Depth-oriented psychotherapy is often inappropriate for people dealing with current substance abuse, severely disordered eating, and active suicidal ideation with plan. Additionally, as I am an independent telehealth provider in outpatient private practice without backup coverage, I am not available for immediate crisis response. Clients who participate in therapy with me must agree to use available crisis services through their city or county or to call 911/use emergency response in the case of acute distress or emergency.

Couples Therapy

While working with couples, I utilize an emotionally focused therapy (EFT) approach. Emotionally focused therapy is based on attachment theory, or our emotional bonds (with parents as children, and with partners as adults) that become a patterned way of connecting and relating with important persons in our lives. If you’d like to learn more about EFT or attachment theory, and how it applies to your relationships, I’d encourage you to check out this video: What Is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)?
